Night tours of Ossuary

Do you like mysterious places? Do you dare to descend into places where the dark magic of history hovers in the air and the flickering light of candles reveals the shadows of long-buried stories beneath the cold city pavement? Visit the nightly tours at St. James's ossuary, which will be open every Friday and evening during the holidays.

Bathed in the bright light of hundreds of candles, you too can be part of the thrilling atmosphere in this utterly unique space. The experience is enhanced by powerful music written by Miloš Štědroň to accompany visitors as they tour the burial ground.

The Ossuary at St. James’ Church was opened to the public in 2012. Visitors have the opportunity to see with their own eyes this unique space, discovered during archaeological excavations of the crypt in 2001. In terms of the sheer number of human remains, the site is the second largest in ossuary in Europe (after the Catacombs of Paris) and is one of Brno’s tourist attractions. In addition to night-time tours, the ossuary can be visited year-round from Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 till 18:00.

Night tours take place every 30 minutes in a group with a maximum of 25 people. The last tour is at 22.00. Admission is at the normal rate. The ossuary will be lit by artificial candles.
